Cute, furry and adorable – the reasons why we buy a puppy, right? Crate training a puppy at night usually does not factor into that equation at that ‘let’s get him” stage. Yup, and then we get home and quickly start being reminded as to why we had resisted the idea -those thoughts of crate training are immediate.

Puppy training – house breaking, crate training….all fall under that heading of immense frustration. Truthfully, it does not have to be that hard. Yes, patience is required – it always is, but with love and some added attention we can get puppy to a level that makes life enjoyable with our new best friend.

Crate training a puppy in the day may be easier – if you stay at home. But night time – a time where you cannot be monitoring the puppy, that’s the difficult time. It’s usually a few sleepless or half sleep night that you have to endure but here are some pointers to help.

Be prepared properly and have what you need ready to go

Choose a crate that is large enough so that the puppy can maneuver comfortably

Have a toy that the puppy enjoys in the crate

Find some old blankets and use these as a comforting surface for the puppy to lie on

Canines are, by nature, territorial. If you put the crate in a remote but easily accessible space this will let the puppy have its own domain to enjoy. This will help the puppy to be comfortable in this area.

As they are naturally pack animals, puppies do not enjoy being left to their own devices. They want to be with the pack – your family. As a result, your first attempts to leave the pup alone will have lots of crying and whimpering. That’s ok. Stick to the plan. Introduce the puppy to the crate for small periods, then increase these until pup likes the idea of heading off to the crate.

It is VITAL that the crate does not become a place of punishment. Throwing the puppy in the crate when he’s been naughty will only signal bad things about the crate to him. This will make crate training a puppy at night really hard.

The key to crate training puppies at night is to make this area a secure and happy place for him. Entice with a treat or two when he goes to the crate. Dogs love consistency – so make it a habit to place a treat in his crate every night and he will soon happily be going off to the crate when commanded.

Vital to your success in training is to use a method of gentle persuasion, love and consistent and habitual methods that encourage trust from the pup. With patience you will see the results and have successfully accomplished your goal in crate training a puppy at night.

When working with a new dog or puppy, making behavioral changes takes plenty of time and patience. Effective pet training does not happen overnight. Success depends on spending adequate time with your dog on a consistent basis and applying good technique for helping him learn.

No two dogs are the same. Their actions and ability to train depend on breed, temperament, and nature. Certain dogs tend to be very eager to please and engaged with their owners while others hold back and respond more mildly. For rewards, some like food and treats while others respond to praise. Some pets work better with verbal commands versus hand signals. By spending plenty of time observing behavior and reaction, you can determine what works best in your situation.

It is important to establish yourself as the pack leader or authority in your home. In a natural environment, dogs look to the pack leader for guidance and direction. It is a position of dominance, but should not be established by negative means. Speak with authoritative tones. Since you are in charge of the food supply, this is a good way to show you are in charge. Set a regular schedule of feeding and stick to it.

Good behavior is more effectively reinforced by positive feedback. Recognize those times when your dog exhibits good behavior by generously rewarding and praising him. When he does something bad, ignore the behavior rather than yelling or punishing. This is best way for your dog to learn what actions get rewards compared to actions that get nothing.

Anger and negative punishment are ineffective teaching methods and do little besides alienate your pet. It is not acceptable to beat or strike an animal. This type of reinforcement causes the dog to view you as an adversary. Not only does a positive approach result in more training success, but it also helps build a strong and long lasting bond between you and your dog.

When setting goals, be realistic about what can actually be achieved and the timing involved. It often takes longer than you expect. An unrealistic goal is expecting your dog to learn difficult commands in one or two sessions. Instead, start with a very simple command, such as teaching him to sit or lay down. Find out what helps him learn best. Then move to more advanced commands.

Consider the importance of timing when rewarding or correcting behavior. Your action must be a direct result of what the dog has done. Scolding after the fact has little effect other than cause confusion. For example, suppose you return home and find a sofa cushion has been chewed. Becoming angry and scolding your pet will not work because the bad behavior happened much earlier. Although dogs will naturally cower and slink away, they are simply responding to your negative language. Dogs are not able to connect their earlier actions with your belated reaction.

Two of the most important aspects to remember are consistency and patience. Be sure to use the same hand signals and verbal commands each time. Train your pet on a regular schedule each day. Allow adequate time for pets to learn commands. All of these components are vital for establishing a dog training London Ontario program that works well for you and your loyal companion.

dog training Vancouver can be challenging, but the rewards are priceless. dog training Calgary requires discipline and consistency.

There are only some things a dog likes more than cheese, ice cream and riding in the vehicle. Riding the car is always something to look forward to by every dog that we ever had. Dogs are similar to people; they get fed up also, and like to take a breather from time to time.

Safety of pets in the car were never a matter of discussion for us many years before. We allow our dogs to just go around on the back portion of the station wagon, sometimes even in the front portion (as a matter of fact, our dogs choose the front seat more often – gives them a better look on the outside and make them feel proud like the Big Dog!) and with no restraints. Products that keep the pets protected while in the car were non-existent before until now. Basically they were allowed to run around under our feet, jump in our laps from window to window, with licks of thank you for taking them to town – and all of this was done while trying to drive!

Then again, one drawback of taking pets to the vet, or just to town can distract you on your driving. During the early years of my son, we had a Siberian Husky. We always let her ride with us on the way to school. Normally, I open up the window a little bit so she could get a clean breather and smell the outside. This one particular morning, a squirrel ran out in the road and she went after it by jumping in the front seat causing me go into the ditch. The windshield had a feel of my son’s head (seatbelts never existed back then) – all were all right, but that experience explained one good reason why pets need to be restrained in the car. Lest you had to unexpectedly step on the brakes, a tiny dog with no fetters on could be tossed down to the floor, or a bigger dog could be thrown into the front glass of the car or out of the vehicle. Any of these or other situations would shock both pet and owner.

Nowadays, as we are more concerned of our safety, gadgets are made available to safeguard us and our pets (part of the family, as well) when we go for a ride. Doggy seat belts, harnesses, pet crates, barriers, door pop/unlock system for quick pet release in case of accidents, heat alarms to protect your pet from heat stroke or cold, and fans to help pets stay cool are just some of the merchandises in the market. Restricting the movement of your pet will make the journey more enjoyable for all aboard. You and other travelers using the seatbelts and pets restrained in the car should be likewise imperative.

Some additional tips to ensure a safe journey are to restrain your pet in the rear seat, (air bags could cause potential harm to the dog), no hanging heads out the window – no matter how much your dog begs – it could cause harm to the eyes from dust or dirt, no smoking in the car, no sitting on your lap, and never ever leave a pet in the car unattended on a hot or cold day. Yearly, hundreds of pets get killed due to heat exhaustion or exposure to the cold. Do not ever allow your dog to ride in the bed of a pickup with no restraints. Put them in a cage or crate and tie the crate down so it will not move during the trip.

The essential things you need to bring when travelling on the road with your best friend (dog), are water for drinking, some of his favorite playthings, and a bedspread from home to help him get acquainted with his environment.

To be safe, children need to buckle their seat inside the car as well as your pet needs to have his doggy seatbelt on.

Do you need dog travel accessories for your personal pet? Head out and purchase them at Best Pet Products. There are many pet travel accessories to choose from.

Many people who own a garden also own pets. This should not be a problem and is often a massive benefit. Dogs often like to run around and play in a garden, while cats often enjoy independently moving between gardens. Whatever pet you own you want to make sure your garden is safe for them to enjoy. This is why it is vital to find a pet safe fertilizer.

It can often be a difficult balance to achieve. In one respect you want to have a healthy looking garden that will be the admiration of the neighbourhood. However it is very important to be careful when choosing the right type of fertilizer for your own individual needs. Before going to the garden centre you should check the balance of your soil and see what nutrients your soil needs.

You also need to be wary of the potentially harmful contents, especially with commercial chemical based fertilizers. Inert chemicals such as chloroform can be harmful to pets. This is why it is vital to check the ingredients before purchasing a fertilizer.

If you are still unsure you should check the certification. It should be certified by a veterinarian or by the EPA. This is a check of quality to assure you that the ingredients are safe for your pets and that it is safe to use on the garden.

The best type of ingredients for your pet safe fertilizer are natural. Examples of this include plant material such as kelp and animal material such as fish emulsion. In some cases the two are blended together to get the best amount of nutrients from the mix of ingredients.

Kelp is an effective example of a plant fertilizer. You can use it in a pellet, liquid or powder form. It adds micronutrients, vitamins and growth hormones to the soil. This increases yields, reduces drought stress and increases plant tolerance to frost. Fish emulsion made from the fermented remains of fish is a useful way of adding trace elements of soil.

In short, the ideal way of keeping your garden healthy and protecting your pets is using natural ingredients. It is worth checking online for product reviews of pet safe fertilizer. Demonstration videos will also help show you the most practical ways of applying and getting the most from your garden.

Wondering what type of pet safe fertilizer is the best on the market? Get the low down now in our online overview of organic fertilizer .

Next to cancer; bloat in dogs is the second leading cause of death in dogs. Most symptoms can be hard to narrow down such as: general restlessness, lack of appetite, reduced bowel movements, dry-heaving (dog tries to vomit, but can’t), hunched appearance (visualize the dog trying to raise the middle part of their back high up in the air), or the dog simply will not sit or lie down.

Other symptoms of bloat in dogs will make you quite aware that immediate intervention is necessary such as: sudden collapse, thick foam on their mouth when the temperature is cool, bright red white or blue gums, or if your dog stands with it’s legs spread wide in obvious discomfort.

Causes

Just as people can become bloated for any number of reasons, so to can dogs. Unfortunately nature is far less forgiving to canines than us.

See the bullet points below for a list of common causes that can create bloat in dogs:

Stress — If there are no other physical or environmental factors that can cause your dog to become bloated, stress can cause problems for any dog of any breed, size, or eating habits.

Eating Habits — feeding your dog foods other than protein rich, low carbohydrate formulations can result in gas. Foods high in acid content like fruits, vegetables, sauces, etc. can all cause problematic bloat in dogs. Some dogs tend to eat and drink way too fast which doesn’t allow their food to move down to their stomach properly (elevating their food and watering dish 4 – 6 inches off the ground should help this problem).

Hereditary Predisposition and/or Physical Build — Dogs with a narrow build, overly large build, overweight/underweight: The list goes on and on…anything that could be considered abnormal including advanced age or dogs that don’t reach their breeds size potential are predisposed to gastrointestinal problems.

Scrutinize your training plan. It may be feasible to get some dog training services for no cost from volunteers depending upon where you live. There are also the more costly services, which can run as high as $100 or more per hour-long training session. The charges will vary depending upon the trainer\’s skill, your location and the type and duration of the program. Group plans are apt to be less pricey than personal plans.

Dog training will take time, persistence and energy. But there is no way to escape doing it and still have a well-mannered and happy dog. If you can\’t do it yourself you should probably go ahead and take on a professional, but do be aware that that option will end up costing you quite a bit more money.

Training your dog will lead to a healthier, happier pet and a more gratifying bond with your puppy. Your puppy will know how to behave and you will also know how you can control the conduct of your dog as well. Your dog will be safer and more contented and so will you.

For you to keep your dog\’s attention you can do things that he appreciates but you must also reward him for small successes. Do not proffer a food reward every time, however, because sporadic reinforcement is actually much more helpful than constant reinforcement because he never knows when he will get the treat so he will keep doing the behavior on the hope that he will get the food reward. Also too many food treats can be bad for your dog\’s health and weight. However, love and attention should be always given.

Right now is a excellent time to be an aspiring dog trainer because of all of the wonderful online resources offered on the Internet. There is certainly content offered on every facet of dog training and there is also some great information about how to best go about the process of really training your dog yourself. A lot of these online dog-training courses can be downloaded simply to your own computer.

When you first begin training you can use visual cues, treats and rewards and other tools, but in time your dog should be able to respond as you need with just the sound of your voice. Be constant with all of your voice commands so that your dog is never mystified about what you want.

A large number of times there are still problems because your dog doesn\’t seem to cooperate and you can\’t comprehend just what the dog is trying to tell you and your dog cannot fathom exactly what it is that you desire. At this point you may be tempted to bring in an a professional dog trainer but pro dog trainers can be very costly. Luckily, with just a minor bit of guidance and knowledge you can turn out to be the greatest trainer for your own dog.

[youtube:8q85xAUIQEU;[link:chicken coops];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8q85xAUIQEU&feature=related]To avoid any problems after the chicken coop is finished and ready, it is imperative to start out right. Before you go ahead with the construction, contact your municipality or local council and learn about the regulations on keeping chicken in residential areas and ensure that you are not breaking any laws.

Next, do some research on plans for chicken coops and shortlist a few that you prefer. You can find a multitude of options online, at the local library as well as the local bookstore. After this, try to get the plans for the chicken coops you like. Choose one and you can use this as the base for your coop plan.

Now go out in your backyard and decide where you will place your coop. Keep in mind the dimensions of the plan and ensure that it will fit. Each chicken needs 4 square feet of space to itself, and if you don\’t plan to add a run, then make that 10 square feet.

Also consider the following factors:

1.	Is there enough natural sunlight available for the coop? 2.	The ground should be well drained and must not be damp or wet. 3.	Check for the nearest water outlet for cleaning. 4.	Will the coop be exposed to any drafts? 5.	Check if the boundary or fence will be strong enough to withstand predators. 6.	Are hawks and owls a problem? You many need a net on the coop for security. 7.	The ground should slope so that water doesn\’t collect in puddles. 8.	The coop must not be too close to the neighbor\’s house. 9.	The coop should not stick out like a sore thumb in the surrounding area.

The next step is to sketch out the coop to figure out the technicalities of the plan. This must include:

Windows for sunlight

1.	Vents 2.	Feeders 3.	Perches 4.	Lights 5.	Flooring 6.	Nesting boxes

The placement of these must avoid:

7.	Dampness 8.	Lack of light 9.	Moisture 10.	Smell caused by the buildup of carbon monoxide 11.	Feeder height should be appropriate, and 12.	Safety

Now that these have been sorted out, you can now start with the coop plan. You might want to work out an estimated cost of the materials and construction. Once everything is sorted out, it is most likely that you will not face any problems with your coop.
